The extreme gullability of the GOP
Feb 21, 2008 Ron Paul, politics
This election year is very amusing to me. Not the Chucky Cheese kind of amusing, but the kind of cold sweat, nervous, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” kind of amusing.
What is it that amuses me so?
That the Republican party, of which I have called myself a member for the few short years I have been old enough to vote or care, is already crumbling before my eyes – and I haven’t even gotten to vote for a real Republican yet (but I will in March!).
That Republicans, despite all evidence to the contrary, think that John McCain is a conservative. Maybe all of his “straight talk” managed to convince some of the extremely gullible? Skip straight to the lobotomy part of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. How anyone could consider John McCain a conservative is well beyond me. McCain-Feingold. Keating five. Divorcing his disabled wife after Vietnam for a 25 year old trophy wife. How about being considered the perfect running mate for John Kerry in 2004? How about Juan Hernandez, the “Mexico First” former Mexican national, Vicente Fox cabinet member, and now John McCain’s Hispanic Outreach Director? What about McCain’s overtly racist “gooks” comments? The list goes on and on but I’m burning too much coal as it is.
John McCain’s success is either because Republicans have been tricked into believing him, or a large portion of the party are moderate-to-liberal. I’m actually going to go for a little bit of both.
My prediction? The media is a coiled snake, waiting to strike. If McCain gets the Republican nomination, the media is going to lay into him like a kid with a whiffle bat and a candy stuffed pinata. Either democrat will be able to beat him.
On March 4th, I’m still going to vote for the strict constitutionalist who managed to stay married (happily) to his wife for 51 years.
My letter to Chris Peden
Feb 19, 2008 Ron Paul, politics

Chris Peden is a neoconservative Republican running for Congress against Ron Paul for the Texas Congressional District 14 seat. Because of gross inaccuracies in his comparison to Ron Paul, I decided to write him a letter.
Dear Chris Peden:
I hope you take the time to read all of this letter. I am a 25 year old born again Christian and I support, and will always support, Ron Paul.
I would like to point out some serious flaws in your comparison to Ron Paul.
1. “Opposes the War on Terror and Blames America for 9/11″. Incorrect. Please research Ron Paul’s bill, the Marque and Reprisal act of 2001. We should have captured Bin Laden by now, and not spent 500 billion dollars in Iraq. If you think that Musharraf is going to capture Bin Laden for $10 billion, think again. That, along with our other debts, is a sizeable burdon for me and my future kids to bear. Also, Ron Paul never said the U.S. was to blame for the 9/11 attacks, but that there are motives, just like in a murder case. He has stated that does not make the murderers any less guilty. He simply said if you step into a snake pit, you should to expect to get bitten. This concept, known as “blowback”, (a CIA term), is well documented and understood. I should note that the former head of the CIA’s Bin Laden unit, Michael Scheurer, supports what Ron Paul is saying. It is also documented in the 9/11 commission report. Can you argue with the official report? Please research Michael Scheurer, and watch his video on youtube backing Ron Paul’s argument.
2. “Opposes Traditional Family Values“. Totally and completely false. I’ve seen this tactic by the other presidential candidates. When Ron Paul votes against certain bills, it is because it represents something that is mandated by the federal government, rather than letting states uphold their own laws. Like in Roe v. Wade, the problem is that the federal government can step in and override state law. You know as well as I do that Ron Paul is a family man, and a born again christian (see his speech at the Liberty University on youtube). As such, since he is a brother in Christ, I suggest you think twice about attacking him in this way.
3. “Refuses to Protect the Unborn“. Also the furthest from the truth. Ron Paul has delivered more than 4000 babies, and has the utmost respect for life. He has repeatedly said, “if you don’t protect life, you can’t protect liberty”. Also, his bill, the Sanctity of Life act of 2007 (HR 2597) declares that human life begins from conception and Would effectively overturn Roe v. Wade. I would say that is pretty pro-life, wouldn’t you? In fact, Ron Paul has spoken at, and gotten endorsements from members of the National Right to Life committee. He also scores a 0% with NARAL, a pro-choice advocacy group. Norma McCorvey, the “Roe” in Roe v. Wade, a pro-life activist now, officially endorsed Ron Paul for president.
4. “Weakens our economy”. This is perhaps, with all due respect, the most ignorant of your statements about Ron Paul. Ron Paul’s votes against trade agreements have to do with U.S. Sovereignty, not with trying to suppress economic growth. Ultimately, our country will suffer from deals like the NAFTA superhighway, the trans-Texas corridor, UNCLOS, and ultimately the North American Union. There are ways to open trade with other nations without losing sovereignty, and Ron Paul is constantly talking about diplomacy and free trade. One of his prime examples is Vietnam, where we accomplished in peace what we could not in decades of war – and are now trading with them.
Also, the cause of the great depression was not caused by a lack of free trade agreements. It was caused by the Federal Reserve, an unconstitutional private bank, allowed to control and manipulate the money supply and therefore the economy. Depressions are created in one of two ways: either hyperdeflation – when currency becomes a commodity and a bubble asset, or hyperinflation – when the currency is debased, purchasing power is decreased, and the lower and middle classes suffer. In the Great Depression’s case, it was hyperdeflation. Today, it is hyperinflation – the ever expanding line of credit to the military industrial complex, the ever rising debt ceiling, and the ever growing need for more money because of our never ending foreign expenditure. It is no mystery why we see our dollar plummeting. Depressions, recessions, and the “business cycle” would be gone if we had a currency that could not be manipulated by a privately held central bank. There is a wealth of information on this subject – you can start by going to video.google.com and searching for “the Money Masters”.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
Regards,
Jeffrey Johnson
The new GOP logos are in!
Feb 6, 2008 graphics, politics
In light of the 2008 presidential election, I’ve created two logos for your viewing and downloading pleasure. The first, the RINO (Republican in name only), and the second, the RINOcrat, for those republicans like John McCain that don’t even try to be a republican, yet are still somehow calling themselves republicans.
The RINO

Feel free to download the files, use them on your blog, use them on T-shirts, whatever. If you want to credit me, Jeff Johnson at toastyaroma.com, that’s cool. If not, that’s cool too.
