Skype no longer free to US and Canada
Dec 18, 2006 internet, technology
Skype announced, via email, that “After December 31st SkypeOut calls to US and Canada will be charged at the standard SkypeOut rate of ¢2.1 USD (or ¢2.4 CAD) per minute.” Bummer, I was kind of hoping that they would keep it free, despite the original plan of only keeping it free until the end of the year. This kills everyone’s skype/stanaphone incoming/outgoing trickery as well. I guess ebay isn’t making enough money from auctions to keep skype free (sure..)
So far, I haven’t come across any more free PC to phone solutions out there.
Battlefield 2142 first impressions afterthoughts
Dec 10, 2006 gaming
After some extensive (not really) thinking and discussing among colleagues, i’ve decided that the weak default weapons in battlefield 2142 are in fact a good thing. Why?
1. Hackers will not be able to hack so easily with an account they haven’t worked on for a while. It really takes some playing to get ranked up and unlock a decent weapon or two.
2. It gives me incentive to keep playing and get the badass weapons, so that I can own newbies with the default weapons still. Its almost like hazing them into the game. That’s what it felt like was happening to me.
3. No good reason here, it just looks better to have three reasons.
Battlefield 2142 first impressions
My first experiences in battlefield 2142 are, to say the least, quite less than pleasing. I figured it would be similar to battlefield 2, and I was right, but I was wrong in thinking that it would be better. Don’t get me wrong - it looks better, and there are some cool features (like mech walkers), but Battlefield 2142 is simply battlefield 2’s retarded cousin, with all of his little badges and pins that he holds so close to his heart. The default weapons are so weak it almost makes you want to quit the game, if it weren’t for the $50 that you sunk on it. I will keep playing simply because i’m not a quitter - but until I get some weapon unlocks, i’ll keep swearing just as loudly.
